A Letter To My Son’s Daycare Providers

letterWMBfinalIt takes a village to raise a child, and you are a crucial part of my village. Please never feel that your work goes unnoticed or is not appreciated. Trust me, we parents do notice and appreciate all of your hard work. We depend on you Monday through Friday and couldn’t do this whole parenting thing without you! You allow us to continue with our professional careers while still raising a family. You lessen our parenting guilt because we know that our children are in good hands while we are at work.

Every morning I’m greeted by your smiling face and nurturing demeanor. Even when my son is crying and clinging to my leg because he doesn’t want me to go, you step in and calm him down. You redirect his attention and distract him so he isn’t focused on me walking out the door. I know he only cries for a few minutes after I leave, but it breaks my heart every time I have to walk away when he is upset. If I didn’t have all the faith in the world in you, I wouldn’t be able to leave his side. Thanks for putting my mind at ease, even when my heart hurts.

Day after day you strive to teach my son new things. It fills me with joy every time he shows off what he’s learned from you. The first time he pointed to a picture of an elephant and raised his arm up like a trunk, made a high pitched noise, my jaw dropped in amazement. Where did he learn that from because it certainly wasn’t from me! Of course it was from you. As hard as it is to admit, he wouldn’t know half the things he knows if it wasn’t for you. Sure I try to stimulate his brain and teach him things like colors and numbers, but you go above and beyond. And don’t get me started with all of the adorable art projects! I love seeing his crafty paintings and fun pieces of art he brings home each week. I’m not the most creative person, so I’m glad he’s able to be artsy with you.

Honestly, I don’t know how you do it. There are times when I can barely handle my ONE child, yet you somehow manage to take care of multiple children every single day. You must have superhuman patience because I can’t imagine dealing with tantrum after tantrum after tantrum. But I’m sure glad you do.

To say thank you is an understatement.

You are a godsend.
