Alright, just a few more weeks to squeeze out the last bit of summer. August 1-31: See what happens at Old Cowtown at night when the sun goes down at the lamps turn on. Each night there will be different activities for the whole family to enjoy.

August 1-13: Catch a ball game during 82nd NBC World Series at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

August 5: Watch the 30th Anniversary screening of Transformers: The Movie. It’s back on the big screen for one night only at the Orpheum Theatre.

August 6: Head to the Sedgwick County Zoo for their annual Back to School Bash. Admission is just $1.00 per person. Don’t forget to bring school supplies to help kids in the community.

August 6: Check out some amazing chalk creations at EmberHope’s 8th Annual Chalk Art Festival in Old Town.

August 9: Make a paper lantern and enjoy a healthy snack at Whole Kids Club Story & Craft. Materials are provided and participation is free!

August 9: Wichita Doula is answering all your babywearing questions at Babies ‘R Us (west). This class is free, but be sure to reserve your spot.

August 10: Chocolate bar, marshmallow, graham cracker. It’s National S’mores Day! Celebrate with the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland with fun activities for the whole family.

August 10-14, 19-21: Catch MTWichita’s performance of the hit Broadway show, Mamma Mia!

August 11: Squeeze in a stop to Natural Grocers (both locations) for an ice cream social 1950s style. Sundaes, floats, and other ice cream treats will be served up at their soda shop while bopping along to tunes of the 50s.

August 11: Yes, it is still four months until Christmas, but you know you want your gifts to look “pin”-worthy. Attend the Wrapping & Ribbon Tying Workshop hosted by Love of Character and learn all the tips and tricks to wrapping your gifts.

August 13: Create the ultimate summer craft, paper plate sunflowers, at City Arts. Their Adult & Me program is free and offered the second Saturday of each month.

August 13: Plan a picture-perfect morning for the kids making an adorable craft and eating a scrumptious breakfast at Love of Character.

 August 13: Grab your gals and check out a totally fun special double feature of Spice World and Clueless at the Orpheum Theatre.

August 15: Set you alarms. Tickets for Hanging with Heroes hosted by Wichita Moms Blog go on sale at 8 pm!

August 16 & 17: Attend the Sea Shells Summer Party hosted by Riverside Music Together. The sea shell-themed party includes a simple craft, snack, and music class.

August 18: Talk a walk through Chisholm Creek Park under a full moon led by the staff at Great Plains Nature Center. This hike is perfect for older kids to explore nature and nocturnal life!

August 20: Learn about American Indian art, culture and history using only a flashlight (and museum staff) as your guide at the Museum Flip-Flop event hosted by the Mid-America All-Indian Center.

August 19: Grab your chairs, blankets, coolers, family and head to Primrose School of Wichita East for a showing of Kung Fu Panda 3. The Family Outdoor Movie Event is free and popcorn is provided.

August 27: Join Captain ICT at the ICT Comic Con and Science Fiction Expo for all things science fiction, comics, literature, movies and horror films. Admission is free.
 
August 27: Grab a chair and blanket and watch Kung Fu Panda 3 outside at New Market Square.
