While Wichita has a fantastic zoo, parks that can’t be beat, botanical gardens that can be enjoyed by young and old, and various other outdoor attractions it also has weather that can change on a dime. For those days when the weather tries to put a kink in your plans to get out of the […]
Now matter how you celebrate the holidays, the Advent season is a perfect opportunity to help your family focus on more meaningful aspects of Christmas. Traditionally, Advent begins 4 Sundays before Christmas and symbolizes a season of anticipation waiting for the birth of Jesus (some celebrate beginning December 1st). Advent Calendars One of my favorite […]

My 10-year-old son came home with a list of 3 supplies for a school project and created it all on his own. What more could you ask for?! Today I now have more […]

While the local YMCA, city pool and splash parks are great options for staying cool, sometimes packing up all of our gear, sunscreen and snacks seems like more trouble than it’s worth with a preschooler and a toddler in a tow. Here are some of my favorite summer water activities with little or no prep […]
Make A Schedule I love the idea of long, leisurely unscheduled summer days with my two boys…until I’m actually in the trenches. While I’m a proponent of unstructured playtime for my toddler and preschooler, a schedule lets my kids know what is coming up next throughout the day and keeps me organized. I admit scheduling […]
I can’t be the only one who always has grand plans of holiday themed activities and crafts for my kids and then, whoops, the holiday has passed and it never happened. I don’t know if it’s the former preschool teacher in me or what, but from the time my first daughter was born I felt […]
As the Valentine holiday approaches, our children frolic down aisles at the store to choose the perfect treats to gift one another. After thirty-two years of consuming every sugary treat imaginable, my toddler son has taught me to accept change. High amounts of sugar are tough on his digestive system, so our recently adjusted eating habits require little to no […]
We had so much fun, festive morning with the great crew at Whole Foods for our final playdate of the year. What better way to wrap a great year than with some cookies, friends, and a man in a big red suit? After devouring some yummy cookies and apple cider, we rolled up our sleeves and got […]
With cooler temps just around the corner, it’s time to think all things pumpkin. Pumpkin patch visits, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pie….let’s give a cheer for our favorite fall staple! We love crafts at our house, meaning my kids enjoy making messy and noisy projects and I embrace projects that don’t require 35 supplies and […]
