July 2016 events in WichitaLooking for a little summer fun? Its all here in this handy guide to events in July all around Wichita. Now, there is a chance we may have missed one or two, so please let us know in the comments below and be sure to check out our Family Calendar.

June 29-July 3: You have to see a performance of Beauty and the Beast by Music Theatre Wichita! This live version of the Disney classic will be an enchanting experience for all! (Children must be at least 5 years old to attend.)

July 2: Party like it’s 1875 at the Celebrate America event at the Old Cowtown Museum. This old-fashioned Fourth of July party will include a pie eating contest, vintage baseball game, carnival games and a petting zoo.

July 4: Happy Independence Day! Grab your little patriots and check out some of these events celebrating the birth of our nation. Be sure to brush up on your Fourth of July Mom-tography skills.

July 6-9: Venture west out to Cheney for the Sedgwick County Fair. There will be a children’s petting zoo, concerts, exhibits, and so, so many funnel cakes.

July 6-10: Just where is the Wheat Capital of the World? The same place where you can attend the Kansas Wheat Festival – Wellington! The festival includes street dances, a carnival, shows, and, of course, wheat!

July 10: Channel you inner “swimja” for SwimJitsu hosted by Wichita Swim Club. SwimJitsu is an in-water obstacle course for participants of all ages and skill.

July 9: Learn all about the secret life of pet chameleons at City Arts. Their Adult & Me program is free and offered the second Saturday of each month.

July 14: From bluegrass to blues, spend the evening at Downtown Diversity Jam, an outdoor concert featuring musical diversity.

July 14: Enter the world of sweets and play a life-sized version of Candy Land at the Wichita Public Library. For children ages 8-11.

July 15: Create a mini masterpiece at the family workshop through MonArt School of Art. The theme, Colorful Fish, is perfect for summer fun.

July 15: Spend the night with some of your closest friends and dinosaurs! Hands-on activities, a movie, pizza, and breakfast are all part of the Sleep with Dinos event at Exploration Place. For children ages 7-11.

July 16: Whip up some sugar cookie flags with your little chef at Little Chef’s Academy at Chick-Fil-A (Rock Road). CANCELLED! 

July 18: Unlike anything you have ever seen, Drums Across Kansas, will feature a performance by 7 premier drum & bugle corps. The corps, consisting of percussion, brass instruments & a color guard, are traveling as part of the Drum Corps International Summer Championship Tour and you can catch them in El Dorado. 

July 19: Talk a walk through Chisholm Creek Park under a full moon led by the staff at Great Plains Nature Center. This hike is perfect for older kids to explore nature and nocturnal life!

July 21: Happy Birthday, Wichita! Celebrate the 146th anniversary of the founding of Wichita on July 23 at the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum.

July 23: At the Wichita Art Museum’s monthly Family ArtVenture is all about wheels. Study up on auto racing and build your very own car to race at the museum.

July 23: Round up the family and head to the Old Cowtown Museum to celebrate National Day of the Cowboy.

July 29-Aug 13: Catch a ball game during 82nd NBC World Series at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

July 30: Participate in some old-fashioned county fair activities at the Sedgwick County Zoo Children’s Farms Festival. Learn how animals are judged at the fair and much more.

July 30: Grab a chair and blanket and watch Hotel Transylvania 2 outside at New Market Square.

July 30: Stay up super late to hit up the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Midnight Release Party at Watermark Books & Cafe.

July 30-31: Check out some neat gadgets at the Wichita Mini Maker Faire at Exploration Place. It is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth featuring family-friendly inventions, innovation, and resources.

    I just called Chick-fil-a at Central & Rock re: the July 16 Little Chef’s Academy and they said that class was cancelled (although it still appears on their online calendar). Just an fyi! 🙂
