Fit Moms New Year Challenge :: First Impressions

new year challenge

Disclosure : Thank you to Genesis Health Clubs for sponsoring this challenge and for providing the opportunity for our community of moms to get healthy and fit in the new year!

Getting healthy is more than just starting a diet. It has to be a lifestyle change. Two weeks ago, more than 25 local moms joined us for the kick off of our WMB Fit Moms New Year Challenge and committed to making a lifestyle change. We have been hitting the G60 Boot Camp at Genesis Health Clubs on Rock Road two to three times a week, in addition to several other group fitness classes. We’ve talked about what eating right looks like (and tastes like…yum!) with All American Dave’s. And we sweat like nobody’s sweat before in the new All American Training class that just started being offered at Genesis.

So what are our first impressions of Genesis?

1. The staff at Genesis rocks!

During our kick-off, the club manager, personal training coordinator, and group fitness director took the time to show us around the gym, talk to us about nutrition and answer all of the questions we had about making this lifestyle change. Everyone we’ve encountered, from the front desk staff to group fitness instructors has been so welcoming and encouraging.  You really feel the support from the entire crew.

I have been blown away by the friendliness and professionalism by each and every staff member at Genesis! And this has been an incredible experience so far because I’m not a typical gym-goer, and going through the challenge with other moms makes me more motivated and comfortable. Boot Camp has been great too because it actually holds my attention and works me to my core!” ~Angela

2. Group workouts provide accountability.

Having a workout partner keeps you accountable. Having an entire group of people in the G60 Boot Camp class that are expecting to see your face three times a week makes it nearly impossible to skip! You get to know everyone in class, including the instructors, and you are really rooting for each other to push yourself as hard as you can go and give it your all.

The staff is beyond friendly, the group workouts make me push myself way harder then I normally would and go by super fast. I’m sore and looking forward to being a fit mom come February!!!” ~Kelly

3. The selection of fitness classes is GREAT.

The selection of classes at Genesis has been awesome! We’ve had the opportunity to try yoga, tri-barre, Group Groove (watch out for our dangerous moves), Group Ride as well as the new All American Training class. So many options help keep the workouts fresh.

I’ve appreciated the opportunity to try out all the classes, not just the boot camp. All of the trainers are upbeat and encouraging, and plan out great classes. I exercise often, but the boot camp is still pushing me – it’s definitely a workout!” ~Lauren

4. No more excuses with on-site childcare!

Genesis offers on-site child care for it’s members and WOW, what a play place! It’s been so nice being able to pick up the kiddos, dropping them by the day care and taking an hour for ourselves.

The friendliness from all the staff has been very welcoming. Also, allowing our kiddos to come for free was beyond nice. Definitely unexpected but has been a huge blessing. Didn’t have the, “Well I don’t have anyone to watch the girls” excuse!” ~Jenna

5. The G60 Boot Camp is a Booty Kicker.

When you’re here for G60 Boot Camp, you’re here to work. Whether you are just starting to workout for the first time or you’re an avid fitness junkie, G60 Boot Camp offers an incredible workout. After the warm-up, you rotate through 10 different stations that focus on different areas of the body, including cardio.

The music, instructor and constant rotation of stations keeps me going in this class!  I leave drenched in sweat and motivated to stick with my goals because of all the hard work I just put in during that hour!” ~Lacey
