If you’re considering breast augmentation, you may have a general idea of the breast size you’d like to achieve. Yet, if you’re like many of our patients, when it comes time to take the leap, choosing a size can be a bit overwhelming.
In this article we look at five tips for picking the best implant size for you, and we take a look at our groundbreaking technology that uses 3D imaging to help you.
Tip #1: Consider Your Lifestyle
While you may want to increase your cup size drastically, you want to consider your lifestyle. For example, if you are a long-distance runner, a triathlete, a kickboxer, you do high-intensity workouts, or other sports, you may want to stay away from the largest implants as your breasts can be uncomfortable.
Next, take a look at the clothing you like to wear. Are you looking for impressive cleavage? Do you mind underwire bras, or do you prefer going bra-less. Do you want people to notice your new breasts, or are you looking for a subtle change? Consider these questions as you think about implant size.
Tip #2: Think About Profile and Shape
There’s more to choosing implants than just their size. You want to factor in the shape and the profile. The profile refers to the amount of projection your implant has. Implants are grouped into low, medium, high, and extra high implant profiles.
If you want a more natural looking breast, a low profile implant is subtle, while a high profile implant may be more noticeable, allowing you greater volume. When it comes to shape, you’ve probably heard the terms: round breast implant and teardrop shaped implant.
Because no two women are exactly alike, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer to what shape you should choose. Round breast implants give the appearance of more fullness at the top of your breast, and they are often used when patients want to correct sagging. Teardrop-shaped implants have a more natural look where the bottom is fuller than the top of the breasts, hence their name.
In addition, if you’ve breastfed your children, your breasts may look saggy and deflated. In this case, you may also need a breast lift with your breast augmentation to ensure not only larger breasts, but breasts that are perkier like your pre-baby breasts.
Tip #3: Think About the Volume
Breast implants aren’t measured in cup size. They’re measured in cubic centimeters (cc). Why? Basically, bra cup sizes are relative and differ greatly among manufacturers. Cubic centimeters are an exact measurement of breast volume.
Using our tool, Crisalix 3D Imaging, you can virtually try on different volumes, so you can see the difference between a 300cc and an 800cc implant.
Tip #4: Bring a Friend
Whether you bring your partner or a friend, it’s always helpful to have a second opinion from someone you trust. This person can help you get a different perspective when choosing an implant. Do remember, though, this is your body, so in the end, it is your decision.
Tip #5: Use Crisalix 3D Imaging
With our computer simulation program, Crisalix, we can show you how your body will change after surgery. First, we take some before photos of you. Then, Crisalix generates a 3D image of your body we can alter to show the possible outcomes. Crisalix takes the uncertainty away, leaving you confident you’re making the right choice.
You discover your new you for free during your consultation. Here are just a few of the things you can learn as you make your decision. You can
- Explore different implant volumes. For example, see what you’d look like with 200cc implants compared to 400cc.
- See what you’d look like with low, medium, high, and extra high profiles.
- View yourself standing, sitting, laying down and even running with various sizes. Many women want to know if their breasts will still move like natural breasts, while others want a firmer look.
- Compare smooth and textured implants on your own frame.
- See yourself with silicone and saline implants.
- Virtually try on round and tear drop shaped implants and even compare insertion methods.
- See what your breasts will look like with or without a breast lift.
