3 Inexpensive Handmade Gifts For Your Spouse on Valentine’s Day

handmade gifts valentine's dayNo one who knows me would be surprised to learn my main love language is receiving gifts. That sounds super selfish, but I like to think of it more as gifts in general not just receiving them. I LOVE presents and giving gifts is one of my favorite things to do. I like to really think about the recipient to make sure what I’m giving suits them. And yes, sometimes I’ll resort to gift cards because, come on, who doesn’t love a good gift card – but most of the time I really like to give something meaningful.

I’ve been married for 12 years and gift giving has not always been at the forefront of our minds (or budget). I do always try to come up with something to show I care though. My favorite gifts have been the ones I’ve made and I think he’s been pleased with what he’s received.

Here are 3 gifts that won’t break the bank but the recipient will know that your heart is in the right place:

52 Reasons Why I Love You

Supplies:
– 1 deck of cards
 – Snippets with the reasons you love them
– Glue stick or double sided tape
– Ribbon or metal clip
– Hole Punch

Write or type out the 52 reasons why you love your special person, and attach them to each card. I just printed out my reasons and glued them to the cards. Then punch a hole (in the same spot on each card) and connect the cards by ribbon or a metal ring so they can flip through all of them!

Date Night in a Box

What you need depends on what your date will be!

Ideas include:
– Movie night at home: DVD or movie rental coupon, popcorn, candy they like, drinks
– Cooking Together: Recipe, dry ingredients, wine, etc
– Game Night: Cards or game you enjoy, snacks, drinks

Take this anywhere you want with whatever your guy/gal will enjoy. The possibilities are endless!

Coupon Book

You will need:
– Coupons
Stapler

Create your coupons and staple them together in booklet-like fashion. The most time challenging part of this is coming up with things that your person would enjoy. Make it a mix between helpful and spicy (or all spicy!).
