Moms RUN This Town :: New Wichita Chapter

Moms Run This Town Wichita“I often hear someone say, ‘I’m not a real runner.’  We are all runners, some just run faster than others.  I never met a fake runner.”  – Bart Yasso

Are you a female runner?  Would you enjoy being part of a community of female runners for support, friendship, and inspiration?  Then please consider this your invitation to join the local Wichita chapter of Moms RUN This Town/She Runs This Town (MRTT/SRTT).  The group was formerly known as only Moms RUN This Town, but recently changed its name to reflect its inclusion of ANY women – not just moms!

Moms Run This Town WichitaWhen I moved to Wichita, I moved away from my running buddy.  I tried participating in various group runs in the community, but the times of the runs rarely worked with my schedule as a busy mom of three young kids (ages 7, 4, and 2) and a full-time accountant.  It was also very intimidating for me to join some of the runs in fear that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the more experienced runners.  On top of that, I was in a new town where I knew very few people and safe running trails!  I quickly found myself desperately missing my former running buddy.  Then, Moms RUN This Town entered my life.  In the short time since I started the chapter, I have been connected with a community of great women.  I have had the pleasure of running with some of them already and the miles fly by as we run and get to know each other.

MRTT/SRTT is a free online community comprised of women whose goal is to support and encourage each other, answer running questions, train together, and share personal running experiences.  Any skill level is welcome in MRTT/SRTT.  It does not matter how long you’ve been running or how fast you are – you can have fun in our group!

We plan to have group runs at least once a week for those who can make it.  These women-only group runs are for all paces.  Don’t have a sitter?  Bring your kids in your jogging stroller!  We don’t want to leave anyone out.  The chapter will also hold various events throughout the year (some will be women only, others will be child friendly).

There are no membership dues, no commitments, no pressure.

Moms Run This Town WichitaIf you can make it to our events, we would love to have you! If you only have time right now to check in on our Facebook group and comment occasionally, we would love to have you join us there as well!  We will be here to support you wherever you are in your running journey – whether you’re trying to run a mile without stopping for the first time or trying to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Almost all of the communication is done via a closed Facebook group to allow us to communicate easily while maintaining privacy for safety purposes.  If you are interested in becoming part of MRTT/SRTT, visit our Facebook page and request to join. The bigger the group, the more opportunity for us to learn from and share with each other.  We would love to have you and your friends join us.  I hope to see you soon!
