Pure Barre Wichita is Finally Here + Giveaway

Oh, Pure Barre.

Your workout had me at cute sticky socks and “up an inch, down an inch“.

I mean, a fitness routine I can do in socks and where I’m only allowed to move various parts of my body one inch at a time? Sign me up. (Coming from a gal who has worked out exactly two times 11 months postpartum.)

Well let me tell you a little something. This wasn’t as easy as I’d thought it’d be. It has been 48 hours since my first Pure Barre class, and let’s just say I’ve needed help lifting my baby and going up and down the stairs, thanks to sore muscles in places that haven’t been used in months.

Those inches are no joke.

Owner of Wichita’s Pure Barre Courtney and her staff hosted a lovely preview event for a few Wichita Moms Blog writers earlier this week. I was the odd one of the bunch, as I was surrounded by runners, outdoor enthusiasts and fitness gurus. But surprisingly, I wasn’t the only one with wobbly legs and shaking thighs by the time our class was over. No wonder they say Pure Barre lifts your seat and tones your thighs (and abs and arms) in record time – I can hardly move any of those muscles even two days later!

For those who haven’t heard of Pure Barre, it’s a unique 55 minute class set to motivating music and consisting of light weight exercises, ab work and small toning movements at the ballet barre (where you truly only move your muscles one inch at a time). Think, pilates meets intense conditioning and a whole lot of tucking and toning. Basically, I walked in and thought my thighs were going to fall off approximately 10 minutes into the class.

I am what you would call a “beginner” on the fitness level scale, but the more advanced fitness gals in the class were feeling the burn too! Pure Barre truly is a workout for all fitness levels. Contrary to what some may think, no ballet experience is required. If you can hold onto a barre, you can do it. Men and women alike attend Pure Barre across the country, and athletes like to cross train to get a different kind of workout. And it’s also completely pregnancy safe! You can do classes up until the day you give birth, as simple modifications can be made. It’s a great way to stay in shape while pregnant without being negatively impactful on your body.

The best part was that I didn’t check the time once. That’s what I do in every workout class – I’m desperate to find the nearest clock so I know how much longer I have to endure. Not in Pure Barre. My body and mind stayed completely engaged, and I was sort of sad when it was over.

Pure Barre definitely gets the Wichita Moms Blog stamp of approval, and we highly suggest you give it a try. You will be warmly welcomed by Courtney and her staff on your first visit, where they will take the time to get to know you. It is their goal to help you make and achieve goals and ultimately be part of the Pure Barre family.

Thank you to Pure Barre Wichita for hosting a preview event and for rewarding our tucking and toning with wine and cookies. We had such a great time and can’t wait to see you at the barre!

I took barre classes growing up for ballet and absolutely loved it! I’ve been out of it for a few years and would love to be able to try this out! (:
