Next Level Wichita Moms’ Nights Out

I love my kids, I do. But, sometimes, mama needs to get out with her girlfriends. Drinks or pedis are always great, but you can take it up a notch a next level moms’ night out. These are my top ten recommendations for an unforgettable mom get together!

Karg Art Glass

Try your hand mouth at making a one of a kind art piece of your own at Karg Art Glass in Kechi. By appointment you and your friends can go back in the workshop and blow your own glass ornament or paperweight ($30-37.50). You’ll select colors and styles while working directly with the artisan for a unique creative experience that comes with a special souvenir.

Xtreme Racing & Entertainment

Minivan by day, high speed go-kart by night! Moms who are looking for a competitive, fun and high speed activity should check out the indoor track at Xtreme Racing for a thrill. These go-karts go up to 45 miles per hour and are sure to get your heart rate up for a memorable night out with the girls.

Shop Til You Drop

Groups of eight or more can book a unique shopping experience at Apricot Lane Bradley Fair. Apricot Lane provides the wine and snacks AND a discount (20% off for your entire group, 30% off one item for your hostess). This is a great option whether you’re looking for special occasion outfits of wardrobe revamps. Must be scheduled in advance ([email protected]).

Q Crawl

Expanded free trolley service downtown could be the catalyst for a fantastic moms night. There are plenty of options for a great food or drink progressive crawl from Clifton Square to Delano and back again. The novelty of the Q-Line trolley transport (and no carseats to buckle) plus dozens of potential bar/brewery/restaurant stops make for an awesome night.

Sephora

Beauty Insiders (a.k.a. anyone with the magical point earning rewards card) can sign up for a free beauty lesson inside Sephora. One of our neighborhood groups recently did this and we had a great time trying new-to-us products with full demonstration and customized instruction. As an added bonus, you’ll leave with your make-up looking flawless for inevitable post-class dinner and drink selfies in Bradley Fair.

Self-defense Class

Fearless and Female offers hands-on self-defense and personal safety classes for groups looking to engage in high energy and empowering bonding. You’ll leave with life-saving skills after completing this essential program with girlfriends.

Artists in Residence

Lean into your creative side and sign up for a guided painting class. Locally, Paint the Town, Pinot’s Pallette, Monart School of Art, and Mark Arts offer classes that supply the canvas, paint and instruction. BYOB and settle in for a couple hours of relaxing, but stimulating, activity. Then hang your one of a kind piece of art proudly as a reminder of the night out where mommy got to make a mess with craft supplies.

Not Quite the Great White Way

For a very different theater experience than shows at Music Theater Wichita or Theater League (also awesome), check out Mosley Street Melodrama and Roxy’s Downtown. Their shows will leave you in stitches. Frequently interactive and filled with local inside jokes they are a can’t miss option for a raucous night out.

Warren (Balcony, Old Town, 21)

Going to movies with kids (yours or anyone else’s) is sometimes not the retreat you’d hope for. In Wichita you have several options for adult only movie nights at the Warren Theaters. My favorite is the Director’s Suite at Warren Old Town– seat-side food/drink service and comfy recliners; large groups can even reserve the whole suite and pick your film. The Warren East Balcony (seat-side food/drink service, heated love seats), Warren21 (recliners and private lobby/concessions) and Warren Old Town (seat side food/drink service) after 6 p.m. all offer a luxury kid free experience for your next girl’s night.

Shooting Range

For a high caliber experience to share with girlfriends you can take classes or workshops specifically for women at Bullseye Shooting Range. Wednesday is Ladies Day: female members shoot free.
