How to Throw A Favorite Things Party

Are you looking for a fun Girls Night idea or holiday party theme? Try a Favorite Things Party! It’s so simple & tons of fun.

  1. Every attendee brings their “favorite thing”, unwrapped.
  2. Our requirement is the item has to be $25 or under. And it has to be something you LOVED over the course of the last year, a true favorite thing. *Caveat – many of our team buy their items on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, so prices may be more than $25 when searching.
  3. Everyone draws a number (1, 2, or 3) and that’s the order you go in to choose your gifts, which we pile high on a large table. No stealing involved, but you can trade if you want!
  4. Everyone goes home with one favorite thing!

After receiving messages and suggestions in years’ past, we decided to round up all the favorite things from this year’s party because they would all make EXCELLENT small gifts for teachers or friends – and only $25 each.

We have provided links below for your convenience and some are affiliate links:

Angela

Geometry Tea Towels. These are the best, and you can get them here locally at Love of Character. Not only do they soak up moisture, but they are so cute to have in your kitchen. They would be the perfect hostess gift!

Meebak Cica Face Cream Moisturizer. When I get facials, I’m asked what products I use! This is really the consistent one I use – I first heard about this age-repair cream on The Buy Guide about 3 years ago (one of my favorite Instagram follows), and I use it both day and night. I’ve noticed a true difference in my skin, and most Korean beauty products are $100+ – this is less than $20.

Buxom Full-Plump Lip Balm. This is my daily go-to, and I first received it as a gift, and now I want to spread the love. And this color is so good on everyone. Only $19 at Target.

Orange De-Solv-It Laundry Saver. I am the stain remover queen…and this is my secret. I have gotten out wine, ink dye color transfer (from a swimsuit), oil-based salad dressing, and already-dried grease stains. It is a true life saver…and everyone I’ve recommended it to agrees!

Ashley

Silicone, Non-Stick, Food Safe Baking Mat. Use in lieu of parchment paper – these are so great and under $10 for a pack of 2!

LANEIGE Lip Glowy Balm. If you know, you know. This is the best brand for lip products for hydrated, soft lips. And this balm is such a great gift idea.

Portable Steamer. Ok, this is $30, but if you catch it on sale it’s less than $25. This is a great brand to pack in a suitcase or to keep in your closet.

Chelsi

Best Mascara Ever. We’ve seen this floating around TikTok, and according to Chelsi, it’s the best mascara ever. And only $4.99.

No Show Socks. And less than $10 for a pack of 4 pairs.

Press On Nails. These are Chelsi’s go-tos as a busy mom who doesn’t have time to hit the salon.

Erica

Hair, Body, & Linen Mist. Our resident candle maker and scent tester, Erica knows a good scent. She recommends the Being Fenshe Hair, Body & Linen Mist Body Spray with Essential Oils – Lavender Cloud.

Erin

Silk Pillowcases. Over 45k glowing reviews on Amazon can’t be wrong! Give your skin & hair a little TLC with a silk pillowcase.

Happy Light Therapy Lamp. Hear me out. I was skeptic too, but finally caved when my doctor told me I needed to try it for my seasonal affective disorder (do you feel blue when the days get shorter in winter? give it a try!). Just a few minutes every morning gives me a noticeable difference!

Crossbody Bag w/ Wide Strap. I got the clear one for the Taylor Swift concert last summer and immediately went back for more! I can’t believe how much it holds (more than my designer bag & so affordable I grabbed multiple colors).

Stain Resistant Rustic Tablecloths. I stumbled across these accidentally. They repel spilled liquids and have even resisted spaghetti sauce!

Stainless Steel Carafe for Coffee. If you hostsa lot of crowds over the holidays, a large carafe will help you get ahead of those coffee requests! You can prep it early & it will still be piping hot.

Jenna

THE Go-To Tank Top. Get you one in every color, for yourself and for your friends. They only cost $5 and $3 on sale.

Rechargeable Toothbrush. I travel a lot and couldn’t live without this! It is right at $25.99 but will probably go on sale. My husband has it in black and was the one to find it for us. So it’s a great stocking stuffer!

Hair Mask. This is my go-to hair mask every time!

Trader Joes Facial Toner. At $3.99, this is a fantastic gift to have on hand for all your friends.

Laura

Party Game. Exploding Kittens is fun for parties and even family game night. This is a hit.

The BEST rolling pin. Attorney by day, baker by night – Laura knows her stuff and recommends this rolling pin for sugar cookies!

No Show Socks. Have you heard of Bombas? They are hype-worth for a reason. The best no show socks!

Lindsay

Packing Cubes. How did we ever travel without travel cubes? Lindsay loves these for travel or even organizing kids items in the car!

Ricki

Lip Balm. This is The Original 101 Ointment Superbalm, and it makes those lips super hydrated.

Overnight Anti-Aging Cream. Intense Sleeping Cream is a cushiony facial balm that leaves a lightweight, hydrating veil on the skin, continuously moisturizing while you sleep, for an overnight glow.

Stain Treatment for Kids. If you’ve seen the Hate Stains Co. Stain Remover on social media, there’s a reason. This is great for difficult to treat stains!
