A Veteran Mom’s Guide to the buybuy BABY Registry + Giveaway

Thank you to buybuy BABY for sponsoring this post and for bringing your store to Wichita so that our community of moms can have a quality registry experience! buy buy baby Wichita

I’m not a stuff person when it comes to baby and kid gear. My mantra is quality over quantity, and anything that is multi-purpose gets bonus points in my book. My husband and I always talked about having at least two kids (and now we have three!), so when we set out to register for baby #1, we tried to get the least amount of stuff possible so that our smaller house wouldn’t scream BABY the very second you walked in the front door. And we wanted our items to last through all of the vigorous baby-raising years.

That said, I walked into the brand new buybuy BABY a week ago and wanted ALL THE STUFF.

Okay, maybe not ALL the stuff, but at least the newer versions of everything I have and love.

How has baby gear gotten so much better since 2011 when we registered? I spent hours curating an online registry where I could pull individual items from an unlimited amount of online stores to find the most stylish, least-obnoxious looking, gender-neutral items because I just felt like the brick and mortar big box options in our city at the time were lacking. They didn’t give me the warm fuzzies when I walked in, and they certainly didn’t have the variety or quality of items I was looking for either.

But now? New moms of Wichita, I’m sooo jealous of you! Our new, smaller format buybuy BABY seriously has pretty much all of my fave baby items we’ve used now three times over, plus enough variety to give you options in every department, but not too many options to make you feel overwhelmed. And, they’re trained to help you with your registry in a way that feels like you’re shopping with a friend you’d bring along that has mom experience to weigh in on what items you really need and those you can live without. On top of providing a personal shopper, they price match, honor that stack of Bed Bath & Beyond coupons you’ve got shoved in your purse, and are really into customizing this store to feel more local, i.e. Shocker gear already on the shelves, and want moms to weigh in on additional items they’d like to see in person (cloth diapers, for example).

When you register you get a cute gift bag stuffed with goodies and a thorough check-list to get you started – and it’s extensive. When we registered five years ago, I found myself using pre-made registry lists like this one, plus polling other moms that I thought I would parent similarly to so I could see what their must-haves were and compare for overlap.

And after three babies in four years, these are the things we’ve used and LOVED over and over again. *Or the newest model of, because goodness baby stuff changes so quickly!

  1. Shocker stuff? I’m there! We bought our Britax stroller & car seat at BBB in KC in 2011 and it has been awesome!

  2. The one thing I *know* I need for Baby #3 is a BOB jogging stroller. I can hear angels singing when I push one 🙂

  3. They have a huge selection of all your baby essentials. I’m needing to get convertible car seats for my twins soon!

  4. Diapers are a go-to registry item for sure!!

Already subscribed to weekly email and follow on Instagram! ?

  5. A sound machine (we have sleep sheep) and a carrier! Things we couldn’t love without and would register for a buy buy baby!

  6. I love the joovy balloon stroller in green. It’s the lightest and most convienent stroller!

  7. Instagram and newsletter. But my go to baby item is a boppy. I’m currently due with #4 and it is the one item I can’t live without! I already have three but I get a new one every time!

  8. Brand new baby added 15 days ago! (To our 3 already under 6!) How did I not know BBB was here?!?

  9. We have frequented Buy Buy Baby in Kansas City, so it it SO nice to have one here!! We are waiting on baby number 2 and are planning to upgrade our Ergo to a Ergo 360 from BBB – our son would have loved the front facing option!!

  10. Definitely the stroller and wubbanub. We went to BBB in Tulsa for our first baby just so I could try out strollers. Wubbanubs are hard to find brick and mortar here, and there is definitely not a selection.

  11. Must have registry item: K’tan baby carrier or any other type of baby wearing carrier. I wish I’d had one with my oldest. I used it constantly with the two younger ones!

  12. A woombie. Who wants to swaddle in the middle of the night? Just gotta zip the baby up and you’re good to go

  13. We bought our car seats from buy buy baby and love it and we are expecting our third child so glad we no longer have to drive to KC to go to the store!!!

  14. I watched as this store got built and immediately checked their website to see what they carried! I would definitely recommend a winter car seat cover from the registry so much better than trying to keep a blanket on in the Kansas winter wind!

  15. The Aden and Anais swaddle blankets! Great for swaddling, burp rags, blankets, changing pads, nursing covers, and they are lightweight and easy to carry around!

  16. How to pick just one!! That is so hard. I would say the car seat. I have made many many trips and I am so thankful for the reliable yet stylish car seat.
