Oh, hello, June. This month is stuffed full of fun for the whole family. We have rounded up events happening throughout the ICT and put them in one handy guide just for you! June 1 & 23: Check in with The Hungry Family and learn how to make everything you need for a summer picnic or pie.
June 2: WMB always has a blast at Backyard Specialists! You won’t want to miss their Summer Bash where you can play on all the equipment, including trampolines and an inflatable. Plus, free snow cones!
June 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30: Enjoy the sights and sounds of summer with professional jazz performances on Bradley Fair Plaza. Concerts are free and open to the public.
June 4: Make plans to attend a special celebration in honor of Blackbear Bosin’s birthday at the Mid-America All-Indian Center’s Little Tipi on the Prairie event. There will be outdoor activities, crafts, and speakers throughout the afternoon.
June 4: Whether you’ve adopted in the past, or are considering adoption and have questions, join Martin Pringle Law Firm for a morning of celebration & fun at the Botanica Children’s Garden. Plan to bring the whole family! RSVP is required.
June 4: The 5th annual Andover Police & Fire Festival, sponsored by the Andover Police & Fire Foundation, will include food, drinks, a dunk tank, a fireworks demonstration, live band and a movie under the stars!
June 5: Head to Botanica for the opening of their Butterfly House. At the Take Flight & Butterfly Festival, celebrating anything that flies or has wings, the first 100 kids can release a butterfly in the butterfly house. Your Riverfest button also gets you discounted admission to the garden.
June 7: Your favorite WWE Superstars will be live at INTRUST Bank Arena for SmackDown.
June 9: Hit up opening day of the Bramble Cafe at Elderslie Farm. While you won’t be able to pick berries quite yet, you can tour the farm, visit baby goats, and get some delicious bakery items.
June 10: Enjoy a screening of Finding Nemo, face painting and outdoor games at the Summer Outdoor Movie Night at Chick-Fil-A (Rock Rd).
June 11: Great Plains Nature Center will be hosting their 32nd Annual Walk With Wildlife. This event includes a half-mile walk with various animal stations, a children’s fishing clinic, and a visit from Curious George.
June 11: Wichita Ballet will be performing Alice in Wonderland at Garvin Park in Augusta. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy this free family event brought to you by the Augusta Arts Council and the Augusta Public Library.
June 11: All princesses and pirates are hereby requested to attend the Princess and Pirate Party held at Towne East Square. Make a wand, get your face painted, or search for buried treasure all afternoon.
June 11: Make a paper sunflower project at City Arts. Their Adult & Me program is free and offered the second Saturday of each month.
June 11: One of the world’s most acrobatic troupes is coming to Wichita for the first time. The acrobats of the China Circus are considered to be some of the most skilled and highly awarded Chinese acrobats. An incredible performance you won’t want to miss.
June 16 & 30: Enjoy a free outdoor concert at NewMarket Square’s Plaza presented by Arts AMaize.
June 17: Create a mini masterpiece at the family workshop through MonArt School of Art. The theme, Starfish, is perfect for summer fun.
June 18: Join Wichita Moms Blog at the 2016 Wichita Heart Walk and F.A.S.T. 5K for the American Heart Association. We would love for you to join our team and help us in the fight heart disease and stroke.
June 18: Learn about the three types of apes living at Sedgwick County Zoo: gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans during the two-day Ape Awareness event.
June 18: Load up and drive out to Stearman Field Bar and Grill for their annual Fly-In and Car Show.
June 20: Talk a walk through Chisholm Creek Park under a full moon led by the staff at Great Plains Nature Center. This hike is perfect for older kids to explore nature and nocturnal life!
June 25: At the Wichita Art Museum’s monthly Family ArtVenture you can visit select sculptures with a fun family-friendly gallery guide and then make a unique and wacky sculpture of your own!
June 26: So, not technically something the whole family can do, but Gnomaste: Beer and Yoga sounds like so much FUN! A 45 minute yoga class at the Hopping Gnome brewery followed by a sampling of one of the local brews on tap.
June 29-July 3: You have to see a performance of Beauty and the Beast by Music Theatre Wichita. This live version of the Disney classic will be an enchanting experience for all! (Children must be at least 5 years old to attend.)
