Meet Your Wichita Moms Blog Team

Angela

Founder/Owner

Angela is founder of Wichita Moms Blog, wife, and mom to two girls. Originally from Wichita, she is thrilled to be raising her family in her hometown after a few years of moving around. She is always trying to find the ever elusive “balance” between working from home and parenting two littles and is passionate about family, building relationships, and fully supporting the community in which she lives. But the things that make her thrive most are coffee dates, chasing “the hustle”, and pajama Sundays.

Erin

Contributor Erin

Content & Social Media Manager

WMB’s Content & Social Media Manager married her college sweetheart 10 years ago and now resides in West Wichita. A graduate of the WSU School of Social Work {Go Shox!}, she is head-over-heels for the arts in Wichita and especially loves the city’s many theaters and museums. She is thrilled to be a work-at-home mama to 2 spunky youngsters, and spends her days homeschooling, hustling for WMB and managing a private social media consulting firm. When she isn’t in Work/School Mode, Erin can be found bribing herself to exercise, trying to remember where she hid the chocolate, and subscribing to more podcasts than she could ever hope to listen to.

Tomi

Tomi

Events Director

There is no place like home. Tomi and her family relocated to the Wichita area just last year after spending much of the last decade moving around the country as an Army spouse. Born and raised in western Kansas, she is thrilled to be close to family and back in a small town. In October 2014, Tomi and her husband welcomed their first daughter, Ella, into the world. Ella is full of spirit and eagerly helps Tomi uncover the ins and outs of being a first time mama. Tomi is blessed to not only stay at home, but also work from home as a college American Government instructor. When she finds the time, Tomi enjoys running, watching K-State football, and spoiling their two dogs!

Ilex

Ilex

Sponsorship Director

Ilex grew up in the Wichita area, leaving for four years to attend the University of Kansas.  After earning a degree in Finance, Ilex returned to Wichita (against all odds) to chase a great career opportunity.  Shortly after returning, she met her husband Michael at a local bar and they have been married for nearly 4 years.  The couple has a boisterous 13-month old son they are getting used to chasing all over the place. Ilex recently turned in her position as General Manager of Business Development for a large local corporation in hopes of finding better balance between work and motherhood.  She accepted the role of Sponsorship Director for Wichita Moms Blog and is grateful for the opportunity to work from home. Ilex is a survivor of heart disease, which leads her to live each day to the fullest.  She loves spending time with family and friends, going to the gym and is always in the middle of a great book.  Ilex enjoys giving back to the community and is currently serving as Vice President of the Ballet Wichita Board of Directors and the Child Abuse Website Chair for the Junior League of Wichita.

Meaghan

Meaghan

Community Engagement Coordinator

Meaghan wears many hats throughout the day: wife to husband of ten years, Jeremy, mom to two incredible children, Jacob (5) and Aliza (2), part-time legal assistant, foster parent, and surrogate. A Wichita native, she met her husband at K-State (Go State!) and they moved from coast (Los Angeles, CA) to coast (Manchester, NH and Groton, CT) before settling back down in Kansas. She is a big fan of her crock pots, has read more than a novel a day for the last five years, and crochets in her “spare” time.

Jordan

Jordan

General Counsel

Jordan is General Counsel for WMB and a regular contributor. She is also an attorney in private practice and the owner of Barre Forte Wichita. She grew up in the rural Butler County area and spent most of her childhood outdoors. She attended WSU for undergrad, followed by KU Law. The year before Jordan completed law school, she and her husband got married, making her a stepmom to three. They have since added two little ones, making a total of five fun and crazy kids! In her free time, Jordan can be spectating at the kids’ ball games, at the barre studio, horseback, or listening to audiobooks. She lives a blessed life and she’s excited to share it with you!

She owns Sally Cavanaugh Photography, specializing in newborns, babies, children and families. Sally is also a trunk keeper for Matilda Jane Clothing, an unpredictable clothing company known for their darling girls attire. When she’s not behind the camera or styling little ones, Sally enjoys being surrounded by family. Whether they are at home or on a frequent trip to the lake, she tries to soak up every moment she can.

Ginny

Ginny

Hospitality Coordinator

Ginny Ellis is a hometown girl who happily resides in East Wichita with her husband, Tim, sons, Graham (b. 2012) and Pierce (b. 2014), and rowdy pups, Francie and Daphne. Together they enjoy taking part in all our city has to offer, especially if it involves being outdoors, supporting the arts, or is particularly delicious. She has a background in training and development but is blessed to be a stay at home mom during this season of life, most of which she feels she spends behind the steering wheel of her constantly messy station wagon. Ginny is a wannabe inventor, aspiring minimalist, laundry folding procrastinator, and voracious reader who loves the Shockers, volunteering, and margaritas on the rocks.

Alison

Alison

Team Photographer

Alison Moore has been growing roots in Wichita for over seven years now with her high school sweetheart turned husband, Andrew, and their three kids, three and under. She’s a work-at-home mom that spends naptime editing away the beautiful families she captures through her premiere photography business and is constantly battling an overflowing laundry basket and too much dog hair on the hardwoods. She’s blogged for the better half of a decade transparently sharing the natural ebbs and flows of life and in 2015 co-launched the photography blog I Carry Your Heart. She spends a lot of time wishing she’d gone to bed earlier the night before and traveling to Manhattan to brainwash her offspring to love K-State. So far it’s working.

She is continually on the lookout for new restaurants to try and is always up for a glass of wine with girlfriends!

Christine

Christine

Contributor

Christine grew up in Wichita and always knew it was the place she wanted to raise her family. After going to Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA for two years and then studying abroad in Italy, she happily came back home to finish her English degree at Wichita State. While there, she met her husband, and now, 10 years later, enjoys staying home with their three children in East Wichita. When not home-schooling her oldest two, Christine enjoys intentionally building a diverse, local community, reading books and talking about them with friends (especially with a cup of coffee or glass of wine in hand), and watching Gilmore Girls or listening to Hamilton on repeat.

She is a RN and although she hung that hat up in 2001 to become a full time stay at home mom, she’s worked part time the past 3 years. Although 3 of her kids are teenagers, she still tries to have those “family moments” in between carpools, school functions, music concerts and sporting events. She’s thrilled to be a part of WMB to connect with other moms of all ages, get to know her “hometown” even better and do something she’s never done before! (never too late to start a new adventure!)

Born & raised on a cattle farm just west of Salina, Erin has grown to love the city life that Wichita has to offer. She & her husband, Nathan, have two beautiful blondies: Blakely (Dec 2013) and Rowen (Apr 2015). Erin formerly taught elementary for 6 years. When the chaos of 2 under 2 happened so quickly (oops!), she decided to leave teaching for now and work-from-home as the premier photographer of Erin Kata Photography. When the calendar allows breaks from the multitude of children’s activities, photo sessions, editing & teaching workshops, you will more than likely find Erin & the fam somewhere outdoors: dancing in the rain, playing in sunshine, and even tromping through the snow!

During the day, she works at a local bank as in-house graphic designer and marketing coordinator. By night and on weekends, Kayla enjoys hanging out with her guys, designing for her Etsy shop, Sundae Made, and catching up on her Netflix queue. She is also very active in PTO at her son’s school and is always trying to find ways to interact with other parents.

Maricar

Contributor

Maricar (pronounced “Merrah Car”) is moved to Wichita in July 2014 from Virginia Beach. She married her college sweetheart, Chris, in 1996. Together, they have four kids: Will (19), Addison (16), Bekah (14), and Victor (6 months). Maricar and Chris are originally from Augusta, Georgia (the “Home of the Masters”, for any avid golfers out there) and have moved quite a bit while Chris completed residency/fellowship (and an eight year US Navy commitment). Here in Wichita, they are now planting some roots. Maricar is a chemistry teacher at Wichita Collegiate, who spends a lot of time cheering for her Spartans at sporting events. She enjoys a good inspirational book, a freshly brewed cup of coffee, scrapbooking, and dinner date nights. Eating out and going to movies tops the list of things the Harris family likes to do. Having a newborn at 42 has been life changing, but she recognizes the greatness of this blessing and is looking forward to this chapter of life.

Raised in Butler County, Marty is no stranger to Wichita and celebrates her ICT pride. After graduating from Wichita State University she began working in public service where she spent 7 years. In 2012, Marty met her partner Angelo and 2 years later their daughter Trudy was born. She is also step mom to 10 year old, Nevaeh.  Angelo and Marty are also business owners with Angelo owning the eclectic R Coffee House in Riverside, and Marty who just opened Wichita’s first cold-pressed juicery, Songbird Juice Co.,  next door! In her free time she adores spending time with her little girls, getting lost in great conversation with friends or catching up on a random mini series that she’s usually 7 years behind on.

Megan has lived in Wichita since 1999, and graduated from WSU in 2003 as an RN.  In 2008 after achieving her IBCLC she started her private practice helping breastfeeding families and in 2016 opened the Breastfeeding Center of Wichita.  Megan is a survivor of childhood cancer that led to some complicated reproductive issues, including the loss of their son Lincoln (18wks, 2008) and daughter Basil (23wks 2010).  With a best friend to spend a life-time with and a vision of a family David and Megan embarked on two amazing adoption journeys.  With two active little girls (London 2012 & Locklyn 2013), a new business, and a move from East to West life is anything but slow-paced.

Nicole is currently a stay at home mom to 3 daughters: Kendall (5), Emerson (18 months), and Natalie (born September 1, 2016.)  She’s aspired to become a writer since penning “The Day it Rained Ice Cream” in elementary school.  Although she earned a degree in Professional Writing from Old Dominion University, she has never had a true writing opportunity until being honored with it now.  She’s a proud Navy spouse and has more tattoos than some sailors, (although she is admittedly uncool!) Her interests include finding the best local restaurants, supporting military causes, and enjoying all the Midwest eccentricity Wichita has to offer!

Rachel

Originally from the Wichita area, Rachel’s greatest adventure began when she married her husband.  Together, they have one living child with Asperger’s (Dylan, ‘03) and one heavenly child with cerebral palsy (Mia, 2000-2013).  Rachel traded her non profit career for the most empowering and terrifying experience of home schooling.  Chronicling literal interpretations of their son’s vocabulary provides humor to everyday life that is otherwise filled with dissecting lesson plans or attempting to model appropriate behavior.  Despite her continuous quest to decide what’s for dinner, Rachel finds time to read, write, bake, sew and spend time with friends and family.

Her motto is, cut out the things that don’t make you happy in life! Hear more from Ryan at Listen My Dear.
