Every year since 1998, the Society of Women Engineers Wichita Section has put on an Engineering Expo to show kids in grades K-8 how cool engineering can be! This FREE event features hands-on activities for kids in grades K-8 to learn how engineering relates to the world around us.
Event Registration: There is no registration required and no cost involved. Expo is free for kids and parents!
Booths: Expo features fun hands-on activities showcasing different fields of engineering at various booths. You can stop in any time and try something, and go to whatever booths you’re interested in. Many booths have items that kids make and bring home with them. Parents should stay with children throughout the activities.
The event runs for several hours, but you can drop in any time. Just don’t wait until almost closing time – you will want time to do everything that is interesting to you.
Workshops: We also have smaller, in-depth workshops during the event for kids in 6th – 8th grade. These are completely free, but you do need to get a ticket when you arrive. Stay tuned for a workshop list and schedule
Returning Participants: There’s a little bit of everything at Expo! We feature new booths, and new ways of setting up existing booths too. So if you’ve been before, keep coming back! The purpose of expo is to teach kids about the different fields of engineering.
