WMB 2015 Summer Playdate Series {Recap}

We can hardly believe summer will be coming to a close in the next few weeks (even though the temps speak otherwise), and it will be time to head back to school before we know it!

We have had so.much.fun and loved seeing some repeat faces at our summer playdates as well as meeting many new ones. Go ahead and give yourselves a pat on the back because it is tough getting out and meeting new mom friends! (Blind-Mom-Dating, anyone?)

Thank you to all who participated for making this an unforgettable summer. And an extra big thank you to some of our favorite local businesses (all WMB tested and approved!) for opening their doors, providing tasty treats and incredible giveaways, and hosting some really fun playdates. Can we just say that Wichita has the coolest, friendliest, most Wichitawesome moms, kiddos and businesses? And with over 200 Moms + Kiddos in attendance overall, it makes us even more motivated to bring you the top-notch, go-to parenting resource and community in Wichita!

Now let’s take a peek at some of the playdate fun we had this summer ::

Chick-fil-A Little Lemon Squeezers

We kicked things off with our first summer playdate at Chick-fil-A Central and Rock Road. You can read all about it here ::

F.I.T. Co. Stroller Playdate

We got our fitness on in College Hill Park with Tonya, owner of F.I.T. Co. (Read all about WMB’s experience in Tonya’s Strollers in Motion class). Our morning started off with some pump-it-up music, interval strength training and jogging while our littles were cozied up in their strollers.

We had a good sweat, shared some hearty laughs (because it was the first time some of us had worked out postpartum – yikes!), and our kiddos were completely entertained by Tonya’s silly songs and kiddie props. And she brought popsicles. Sugar-high for the win!

We met new friends, burned some calories and entertained our littles. (And some of us may or may not have been sore for 3 days afterwards.)

Be sure to check out a trial class with Tonya – you are sure to get in shape and meet other moms!

Yoga Central Little Yogis

Have you tried out a class at Yoga Central? We had so much fun learning about our bodies, listening to a story about animals and doing yoga poses to represent those animals (“the snake” was our personal favorite)!

We got to build with foam blocks, climb and suspend from the “yoga wall”, bond with our littles while making them “fly” and snack on the most delicious chocolate-dipped banana treats.

Tonya is incredible with children (as she has three of her own), and we highly recommend trying out one of her regular yoga classes or Kids Yoga – held on Sundays from 11-12 through August.

Not Just Make Believe Entertainment Splash Park Playdate

What a blast we had splashing with Meghan the Mermaid and Dread Pirate Drippy at the Riverside Splash Park! A huge thank you to Not Just Make Believe Entertainment for spending the morning with us and for making our splash date so much fun!

Music Together of Wichita Little Music Makers

We had two back to back classes with Mrs. Marcee of Music Together of Wichita and had a diverse mix of tiny babes, tots, and a few early elementary age kiddos. We’re not sure who had more fun – the kiddos or the parents! This is a WMB favorite, and all attendees really got into the motions, songs and dances, and the littles especially loved the egg shakers, sticks, drums and instrument jam sessions.

If you have yet to experience a class with Marcee, you should. She offers year-round free demo classes so you can see for yourself what all the hype is about!

Backyard Specialists Fun in the Backyard

It may have been a HOT summer morning at our backyard playdate with Backyard Specialists, but that didn’t stop us from having so much (sweaty) fun! It felt like our own little private amusement park as the kiddos had full reign of the playsets, trampolines and basketball courts. And of course when the Wichita temps really got to rising, we had sno cones to save the day! And, two (really lucky) moms walked away with a Birthday Party Package giveaway for their kiddos (we’re not jealous or anything).
