Who doesn’t love autumn in Kansas? Friday night football games, Saturday evenings around backyard fire pits, and of course, annual small town fall festivals! Fall festivals are a great way to support small towns and a great excuse to partake in funnel cakes while getting a jump start on holiday gift collecting from unique arts and crafts vendors. Here are some of the Wichita area’s favorite fall festival happenings:
Old Settlers Day, Mulvane
August 19-21
Old Settlers celebrates 143 years of traditions including turtle races, a quilt show, horse show, the Little Miss Pioneer pageant, a parade on Saturday morning.
Derby BBQ Festival
September 10
This family event at High Park on James Street benefits the Airman & Family Readiness Center at McConnell Air Force Base.
El Dorado Fall Festival
September 23-24
El Dorado Fall Festival will feature Oktoberfest on Friday, Walnut River Festival and much more all in downtown El Dorado!
Valley Center Fall Festival
September 23-24
My hometown and family’s favorite (GO HORNETS!) fall event! We love our family tradition of hitting the Saturday morning parade on Meridian with donuts, followed by carnival rides and activities at the park, then late afternoon naps at grandparents houses.
Greater Andover Days

Your family won’t want to miss “Handfuls of Fun!” featuring a parade, 5K run, carnival rides and fireworks!
Hometown Heroes, Goddard

A parade and Lion’s sponsored pancake feed is a fabulous way to start off the Goddard Fall Festival! Stay tuned to their Facebook page for the much anticipated return of Dodge Ball!
Maize Fall Festival

A weekend filled with food, fun and make sure to check out their website for details on the Amazing Voice Singing Contest—limited participation with cash prizes!
