5 Reasons to Take a Community Class at WSU

Wichita State University community

Disclosure: Thank you to Wichita State University Community Education for sponsoring this post and for providing classes we stand behind and are excited to bring to this wonderful community of moms.

Wichita State University’s Community Education Program is a hidden gem amongst a sea of popular Shocker programs and events. This year, however, the program has been completely overhauled, and they’re now offering classes for moms and their children!

If you’re a Wichita mom who is constantly looking for fun activities that don’t always involve going out to eat and seeing another movie, this is your chance. But why would you want to take a class, you ask?

1. No tests! No grades! No pressure!

These classes are purposely crafted to teach us all something new in low-pressure settings, so there are no tests and no grades. For example, if your inner artist needs an outlet, try a Creative Writing or Painting class to learn and experiment with new skills without having to worry about an official grade. The instructors our vetted and qualified, and are there to help you learn…not to pass or fail you.

2. Great way to spend time with kids, friends, or family

Wichita State University communityI don’t know about you, but we love to try different activities where we can meet like-minded people and make new friends! You could get crafty with your kids and learn how to twist some really cool balloon figures from an actual Certified Balloon Artist (probably something dad would love, too). How many of us are in serious need of a girl’s night out? Leave the kids home with dad or a sitter, grab some friends, and go learn more about sampling craft beers. Or, if wine is your preferred mommy juice, there’s a wine class, too! Maybe you’ve been bugging your hubby about some repairs around the house? Why not take the home repair class together? It’s a fun “date”, and you’ll enjoy the finished results even more!

3. Add a NEW skill to your resume

Looking for ways to stand out in your job search? Adding a new skill to your resume is a great way to make that happen. Many employers today want their staff to speak Spanish or know how to use Adobe products like Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. These are highly coveted skills so if you want in on these popular classes, register soon – classes start this week!

4. Enjoy getting healthy

It’s still the beginning of a new year, but many people are already wavering on their gym memberships and daily commitments to exercise more in 2016. Exercise doesn’t have to be a chore if you love it, and this program has some FUN options from yoga and tennis to T’ai Chi Ch’uan. Be bold and try something new! They also offer a class on making healthy meals that are quick and easy. Is there anyone who doesn’t need to learn this?!

5. It’s just FUN!

You’re just going to have to take our word for it. If you register for one of these classes, you won’t regret it. They make learning easy and FUN!

With so many options available, it shouldn’t be hard to find something in this class lineup that interests you!

Because they know our readers are always looking for fun things to do in Wichita, WSU is offering one lucky reader (and a friend) 2 $50 gift cards to be applied to a spring class of your choosing! Check out our Facebook page for the giveaway rules.
